ENVIRONMENT

The Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) report was prepared by the renowned Consultants M/s WAPCOS and was submitted to the Government of Sikkim in April 2006. The public hearing of the project was successfully conducted on June 08, 2006 at Chungthang. The report was submitted to MOE&F, GoI on June 19, 2006 and the presentations before expert committee were made on June 28, 2006 & July 19, 2006. Final Environment Clearance was received from MOE&F on August 04, 2006.

FOREST

 

The Forest Clearance for the final proposal for diversion of 83.04 Ha of Forest Land after examination and clearance by Forest Advisory Committee was accorded in November 2007.

 

Local Area Development Plan (LADP)

 

Teesta Industrial Training & Development Centre (TITDC), Mangan

 

Teesta Industrial Training & Development Centre (TITDC) is being run at Mangan to uplift the State of Sikkim towards prosperity by means of Human Resource Development and Training. This initiative has been taken by the company for imparting employment training under Local Area Development Plan (LADP). Six no. trades i.e. fitter, welder, electrical, plumber draughtsman and survey assistant have been started at the institute. Three batches have since passed out of the institute.

 

Corporate Social Responsibility

 

The social welfare activities for the Project are getting implemented through an NGO M/s Bhavishya Bharat Foundation (BBF) under the guidance and support of Teesta Urja Management and Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) Committee, North Sikkim District. Teesta Urja Ltd sponsors all the works being carried out by BBF in Sikkim.
